The instruction label reads: “COAT, MAN’S, COTTON WIND RESISTANT RIP STOP POPLIN OG 107 CLASS 1,” and bears the markings DSA 100-70-C-0247 / RICHARD WYNN ENTERPRISES, INC.

Featuring 100% cotton ripstop fabric typical of the 4th Model and four large pockets arranged diagonally, this jacket boasts the polished details emblematic of the Vietnam War era. However, what makes this particular piece interesting goes beyond it simply being a U.S. military jungle fatigue jacket.

Numerous patches, insignia, and name tapes in Thai script—believed to be from the Royal Thai Army—are sewn onto various parts of the garment. A wing insignia incorporating the colors of the Thai flag adorns the right chest, and various other insignia remain on the sleeves and collar, making this a highly atmospheric piece that is believed to have been transferred from the U.S. military to the Thai side.

During the Vietnam War, Thailand was a key U.S. ally; U.S. Air Force bases were established within Thailand, and the Thai military also deployed troops to South Vietnam. Considering this historical context, the very sight of U.S.-made jungle fatigues adorned with Royal Thai Army patches evokes the military history of Southeast Asia during that era.
