These ERDL camouflage pants were a souvenir sold in Okinawa in the estimated 1980s.
This pair has a very interesting origin, reflecting the background of the time. The fabric is estimated to have been made in mainland Japan and sewn in Okinawa. It is highly likely that this was the same distribution and production route as the locally made Tiger Stripe products that were manufactured at the same time, giving a sense of military culture unique to Okinawa.
According to the original owner's testimony, it was purchased in Okinawa in the late 1980s. At that time, it was still before full-scale U.S. military releases were available on the general market, and as an ingenuity born of the restrictions, a design mixing Woodland camouflage and ERDL camouflage was adopted. It is assumed that this was a local approach to avoid design rights, resulting in a one-of-a-kind design.
While the silhouette and details follow the military pants, there is an air of "local product for civilian use," which is different from the complete government-issued products, and it is one that has high material value.
The condition is unused. It has a few wrinkles from storage, but it is in very good condition with no signs of wear. The zipper is also YKK.
These are valuable pants that symbolize the Okinawan military culture of the 80's and have a background that cannot be reproduced today. Please consider this item only if you understand vintage items, as it is an unused item but is dated.
