This is a jungle fatigues jacket featuring the ERDL (Engineer Research & Development Laboratory) leaf camouflage pattern, known as the iconic camouflage of the Vietnam War. Estimated size: M-R.

ERDL camouflage was primarily issued to select elite units—such as U.S. Army Special Forces, reconnaissance units, and the Marine Corps—beginning around 1967; it is a historic pattern that served as the prototype for the later Woodland camouflage. While this jacket features the slightly blurred outline characteristic of later-production models, it is made of cotton poplin (non-ripstop) rather than ripstop fabric—an interesting specification. It can be described as a piece with characteristics unique to the transitional period.

Although the size tag and contract tag are missing, the actual size is estimated to be Medium-Regular—a popular size that fits Japanese people very well.

What catches the eye most of all is the history of actual combat this jacket has endured. The heavy fading visible throughout is the result of years of use, and the once-vivid leaf pattern has transformed into a subdued hue. Its texture gives off a strong sense of authenticity—it is not merely a vintage garment, but a piece that was actually used in the harsh environment of the Vietnam War.

In recent years, ERDL jackets have become increasingly difficult to obtain, and among them, pieces with natural aging from actual combat use are disappearing from the market year by year. This is a piece that’s perfect for a collection, of course, but also allows you to enjoy the unique presence that only vintage military gear can offer.

Precisely because the tag is missing, the jacket exudes an aura of authenticity—its charm as equipment that was put through its paces on the battlefield and fulfilled its purpose is all the more striking.

Size tag and contract tag are missing. The jacket shows significant overall fading, signs of wear, and age-related stains, but the fabric is sturdy and suitable for wear. It retains a strong, authentic atmosphere from the Vietnam War era when it was actually in use.
