We have received a shipment of Tiger Stripe pants with contract number TO78.
This pair belongs to a batch believed to have been delivered around December 1970 and holds a very significant place as the “last Japanese-made Tiger Stripe.” Its existence is confirmed by a group of items featuring paper contract tags, and while it is often confused with Taiwanese contract items from the same period, this pattern is considered to be unquestionably Japanese-made.
Its camouflage pattern features sharp contrasts very similar to the so-called "Silver Tiger," and is a distinctive style also known among collectors as "TDD." The striking presence created by the bold combination of green and black is outstanding, and it is regarded as one of the most attractive color schemes among the many Tiger Stripe variants. The size is marked as A-M.
Another interesting point is that there are few clear records of this TO78 pattern being deployed in actual combat; instead, examples of its use have been confirmed primarily as surplus items distributed to the armed forces of neighboring countries rather than the main U.S. military. It is a garment that, despite being a practical item, possesses a somewhat mysterious background.
The condition shows signs of fading, giving it a distinct aura of actual use. -
Button
fly has been replaced -
Button missing from back pocket - Traces of the inseam having been extended with the same fabric (presumed to be a practical modification from that era)
All of these features are believed to have been made under real-world conditions, and this pair offers the charm of being a "testament to wear" rather than mere damage. Perfect for a collection, of course, but also a truly one-of-a-kind pair of tiger-stripe pants that will stand out in any outfit with its overwhelming presence.
Please note that this is a used item and cannot be returned.
