These “Silver Tiger” Asian Cut pants are among the most popular of the Tiger Stripe designs from the Vietnam War era. Sizes range from A to M.

They feature a unique pattern where deep blue to black stripes are intricately layered with olive and khaki tones. A major appeal of this style is how years of wear and washing have caused the fabric to fade overall, giving it a dry, silvery appearance.

While tiger stripe is one of the camouflage patterns symbolic of the Vietnam War, unlike the standard U.S. military-issued camouflage uniforms, various variations were used by local forces—including the South Vietnamese Army—special forces, and even U.S. military personnel. As a result, there are numerous differences in fabric, printing, cutting, and sewing, and each variation is now highly sought after by collectors.

This item features what is known as the “Asian Cut.” The size is labeled A-M (Asian Medium).

The pocket configuration is particularly distinctive. In addition to the cargo pockets on both sides, there is a flap pocket on the back. Furthermore, small pockets are featured on the legs, creating a functional and unique design that is quintessentially “Tiger Stripe.” The cargo pockets still have the original tape, and the hem is equipped with a drawcord. Details that clearly distinguish it from standard U.S. military fatigues can be seen throughout.

Above all, this pair boasts a superb balance between the remaining color and the fade.

While there is overall fading from wear, the dark stripes remain vivid, providing ample contrast against the olive and khaki tones. It has developed the powerful character unique to vintage Tiger Stripe pants—a look you simply won’t find on a brand-new pair.

On the inside, a worn white size/identification tag remains; although the print has faded considerably, these details lend the pair an authentic atmosphere unique to a pair that has actually been worn.

Condition: Used. There is overall fading, signs of wear, and scuffing, but no buttons are missing, and there are no noticeable major repairs. For a Tiger Stripe from this era, it’s in excellent condition that allows you to fully appreciate its original charm.

Precisely because the Tiger Stripe genre includes so many later items that merely imitate the pattern, the fabric texture, stitching, hardware, and the fade that comes with the passage of time—all unique to older pieces—give this item a truly distinctive presence.
